Hakeem Muri-Okunola is an alumni of the Lagos State University and Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, England from where he acquired LLB (Hons) and LLM (Merit) in Law. He is a member the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
His professional career started as an Associate Solicitor in the Law Firm of Adepetun Caxton-Martins and Agbor between 1996 – 2000. Thereafter, he joined Ibile Holdings Limited (The Investment Company for Lagos State Government) as Company Secretary/Legal Adviser between 2000 and 2003.
In March 2003, he was appointed as Personal Assistant to the Executive Governor of Lagos State. He served in this capacity till February, 2005 when he was appointed Executive Secretary, Lands Use and Allocation Committee and a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
Appointed Permanent Secretary in February 2011 he was deployed to the Lands Bureau where he served meritoriously until 3rd august 2015 when he was re-deployed to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development as Permanent Secretary, a position he currently holds.
Hakeem Muri–Okunola, a member of Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos Motor Boat Club, Lagos Polo Club and F’S Club is married with children.
